Aside from numerous medical service calls, crews from Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services responded to a series of motor vehicle collisions throughout last week.
Fire Chief Scott Lewis said crews were dispatched to the area of Highway 160 and Dandelion Street for a multi-vehicle crash just before 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.
“Upon arrival, crews found a three-vehicle accident where each of the vehicles had been rear-ended,” Lewis said. “The investigation revealed that though there were injuries, no one was transported from the scene.”
A second motor vehicle collision occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Adkisson and Murphy streets involving a pickup truck and a quad off-road vehicle.
“Upon arrival, crews found the accident as reported with significant injuries to the person riding the quad,” Lewis said. “Mercy Air 21 was added to the assignment where a landing zone was established on Adkisson Street. That patient was subsequently flown to UMC Trauma in Las Vegas.”
Multi-vehicle crash
Last Friday, Oct. 13 brought bad luck to several motorists just before 9 a.m., as crews responded to a multi-vehicle collision at Highways 160 and 372, at 9:50 a.m.
“Upon arrival, crews found a similar type of accident from the previous day where several vehicles rear-ended each other,” Lewis said. “There were injuries and one was transported from the scene to Desert View Hospital.”
Lewis noted, that particular collision was followed by another just after 4 p.m., at Jane Avenue and Savoy Boulevard, on the south end of town.
“The accident involved two pickup trucks with significant impact,” Lewis said. “It was a T-bone type collision, but there was no entrapment. “One person sustained injuries, however they declined medical transport to the local hospital.”
Rollover wreck
The following day, fire crews were initially dispatched for a one-vehicle rollover crash along South Highway 160 as part of a mutual aid assignment with Clark County first responders.
“This was reported to be on Highway 160 near mile marker 38,” Lewis said. “Instead, the accident was actually found to be a one-vehicle rollover located on Front Sight Road. “It was a significant rollover accident, however, the occupant declined medical treatment.”
Smoke in home
On Sunday, fire crews responded to a reported structure fire on the 2700 block of Shadow Mountain Street, just after 7 p.m.
“This was a house filling with smoke as a result of a cooking-related incident,” Lewis said. “Upon arrival, crews found the fire mostly extinguished, however, they continued the suppression and ventilated the residence. There were no injuries reported.”
