COPS: Man who claimed name was Bunny arrested for obstruction
One man was taken into custody on Christmas day after he was allegedly caught trespassing at a local restaurant before refusing to give Nye County Sheriff’s deputies his real name.
According to a declaration of arrest in the case, around 4:13 a.m. the morning of Dec. 25 a NCSO detective was inside Denny’s when an employee approached him and said a man who had previously been trespassed from the restaurant had returned.
The employee further stated they had last seen the suspect walking southbound through the parking lot.
When the detective went outside to check the area he then made contact with a man later identified as Michael Mullen.
Mullen was asked to identify himself, at which time police say he began to give officers different names, including the name “Bunny.”
After Mullen allegedly continued to refuse to give police his real name he was placed under arrest for obstruction and transported to the Nye County Detention Center to be booked into custody. During the booking process Mullen was asked again what his true name was and he allegedly replied “Bunny Bunny.”
After some research an arrest report notes they discovered Mullen’s true name and booked him accordingly.
COPS: Man refuses to follow directions, gets arrested
Police arrested one person last week for resisting a peace officer after he allegedly threatened to attack deputies en route to his location for a domestic disturbance call and refused to follow their directions after they arrived on scene.
On Dec. 27 around 11:24 p.m. deputies were called to respond to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of North Royal Avenue.
As deputies were en route to the call they were informed that a male involved in the situation, later identified as Ronald Cavolt, was intoxicated and had allegedly threatened to attack any peace officer that showed up to the address.
Once deputies arrived they located Cavolt inside a building near the rear of the property. An arrest report notes the man appeared to be intoxicated and was highly agitated and verbally hostile.
As deputies attempted to ascertain what was going on at the residence they reportedly discovered another male in the home who had allegedly violated his probation.
While deputies were dealing with the probation violation issue, the arrest report notes Cavolt got up from the chair he was sitting in and allegedly attempted to leave the residence.
After an officer told Cavolt to sit back down, he reportedly said he was just throwing his cigarette out. The officer then gave Cavolt another command to sit down, but Cavolt allegedly refused, telling police he hadn’t done anything wrong.
Police said Cavolt then puffed out his chest and balled up his fists as the deputy continued to ask him to sit down.
Two officers then grabbed Cavolt’s arms to physically sit him down in his chair, at which time he allegedly pushed back against them while balling up his fists and again stated he hadn’t done anything wrong.
The arrest report notes deputies then took Cavolt to the ground and placed him in handcuffs.
Cavolt was subsequently placed under arrest for resisting a peace officer and transported to the local jail to be booked into custody.
COPS: Man behaving oddly arrested for possessing dangerous weapon, resisting police
One man was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon and resisting deputies last week after he reportedly went to the sheriff’s office to speak with a police officer and then allegedly became combative when deputies attempted to speak with him.
According to a declaration of arrest in the case, on Dec. 25 around 8:40 a.m., police were dispatched to the front of the sheriff’s office for a report of an allegedly intoxicated male who wanted to speak with a deputy.
The man allegedly told dispatchers that he needed to speak with an officer or he was going to break into a church. After a few minutes of waiting for a deputy to arrive, he then allegedly told dispatchers he was leaving, stating he was going to bury a body.
Two deputies then arrived to speak with the male as he was leaving.
One of the officers then reportedly asked the suspect, later identified as Steven Wayne Allen, to calm down and tell them what he needed help with.
An arrest report noted Allen allegedly appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was holding a white bundled up sheet as he spoke to police.
After asking Allen what he needed help with, the man allegedly replied the officers didn’t need to worry about his problem.
When one of the officers then began to pat the man down for weapons while continuing to ask how they could assist him, Allen allegedly became combative and told the officer “don’t f***ing touch me.”
As police took a closer look at the sheet in the man’s arms, one of the deputies allegedly noticed there was blood on the sheet as well as what appeared to be hair inside.
After being asked what was in the sheet, Allen allegedly threw the bundle on the ground and began removing items from his person as if he were preparing to fight.
As Allen removed his shirt, police noted he appeared to have a “hanging clip” knife around his neck.
Police then ordered Allen not to reach for the knife, at which time he reportedly grabbed the item from around his neck and threw it to the ground.
Not knowing if Allen had any other weapons on his person. deputies ordered the man to the ground. Although a police report notes Allen initially refused to follow the order, the two officers were able to subsequently take him to the ground and after a lengthy wrestling match were able to place him in handcuffs.
After he had bee restrained Allen reportedly told police his girlfriend’s dog had killed his dog and that was what was in the sheet.
Allen was then transported to the Nye County Detention Center to be booked into custody.
