COPS: Man defies TPO, sleeps at woman’s home
Police took one man into custody for violating a temporary protection order last week after he allegedly entered the victim’s home and went to sleep in her bedroom.
According to a declaration of arrest in the case, on Feb. 27 around 11:23 p.m. a Nye County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 2200 block of North Kelso Street for a report of a TPO violation.
The victim told police she had taken a restraining order out against the suspect William Edward Evans. That evening he arrived at her home and allegedly went into the bedroom and laid down to go to sleep. When she asked Evans to leave she said he declined to do so.
According to an arrest report when the officer made contact with a sleeping Evans he asked if he had been served with the TPO to which Evans allegedly replied he had.
The deputy then asked Evans why he was at the woman’s home then and he allegedly replied he needed somewhere to sleep and had nowhere else to go.
Evans was subsequently placed under arrest for violating the TPO and transported to the Nye County Detention Center to be booked into custody.
Once there his arrest report stated he was allowed to make a phone call. Evans allegedly called the woman with the restraining order against him, and was then booked into custody on a second violation of the TPO.
He was then booked into custody on two charges of violating the restraining order.
COPS: Driver in rollover gets second DUI
The driver of a vehicle that rolled over near the intersection of Wilson Road and Lola Lane last weekend was arrested for driving while under the influence of prescription medication.
On Saturday around 10:30 a.m. deputies and Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Services were dispatched to a report of a single-vehicle rollover.
When an officer arrived on scene he reportedly discovered a blue SUV resting on its side. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Dana Rene Detten, allegedly told the officer she had been traveling westbound on Wilson Road when she stopped, causing her vehicle to roll over.
As the deputy continued to speak with Detten, he noted in the arrest report her speech appeared to be heavily slurred and that she appeared unsteady.
Detten allegedly told the deputy her significant other was going to be angry with her and possibly accuse her of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The woman also allegedly stated she had taken some of her medication earlier that morning. When asked if she had any medications with her or if she had taken anything else, she allegedly replied she did not.
The deputy then had her participate in a field sobriety test, which she allegedly failed.
Inside her vehicle police also reported finding a black bag with several prescription bottles inside. Detten allegedly apologized for lying to the officer, explaining she had taken medication that morning.
Detten was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI. A records check also reportedly revealed she had been convicted of a prior DUI in 2011.
