Pahrump man arrested after allegedly trying to run deputy over
Michael Eugene O’Leary, was apprehended by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office Sunday and charged with preliminary counts of driver disobey a peace officer, endangering another person (x2) and assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon as result of the incident.
The ordeal began around noon Sunday, when an NCSO deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on O’Leary as his vehicle was parked in a handicap spot in front of the Nye County School District office, as he was aware that the suspect had warrants and was a suspect in a recent burglary.
As the officer arrived, he put on his emergency lights and honked to signal the traffic stop and as he exited his patrol car O’Leary put his car in reverse, attempting to strike the deputy’s vehicle, police said.
The officer jumped out of the way from the vehicle, as O’Leary stopped just shy of striking his patrol car. O’Leary then re-positioned his car and then put it in reverse again and attempted to run the deputy over, according to police.
After the deputy again jumped out of the way, the officer yelled at O’Leary to stop to which he replied, “f—k you” and sped away, police said.
O’Leary sped through the Walmart parking lot, putting customers’ lives in danger, before exiting the area onto Highway 160, police said.
The deputy disengaged his short pursuit of O’Leary due to the speeds the suspect was driving and the distance the deputy’s vehicle was from O’Leary’s vehicle.
Later on Sunday evening, sheriff’s deputies were following up on leads to the whereabouts of O’Leary when they spotted his car parked at a residence on the 2300 block of Heritage Drive.
The responding deputy made contact with residents of the residence who consented to a search of the premises for O’Leary. Acting on information from a female resident, deputies discovered O’Leary hiding in a closet in the bedroom under a pile of blankets along with a small child.
O’Leary was arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center without incident and booked on the two charges.
Man arrested after domestic incident involving baseball bat
A Pahrump man was arrested last week after allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend with a baseball bat and striking her with his fist.
Charles Galloway II, was taken into custody by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office on May 10 and charged with preliminary counts of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery.
After receiving a call about a disturbance at a residence on the 3100 block of Adkisson Street about a man yelling and swinging a baseball bat around, the responding deputy saw a brown, four-door Oldsmobile vehicle, matching the description of the suspect’s, exiting the driveway of the residence in question.
The officer made contact with Galloway and he told the deputy that he had a verbal altercation with his girlfriend over her breaking up with him and moving out.
The deputy then spoke with the female victim and was told that Galloway came to the residence, kicked the door down and entered, wielding a pink and blue metal baseball bat, according to police.
Galloway allegedly began breaking items in the house with the bat and proceeded to chase the victim through the house, trying to strike her with the bat, according to police.
The victim was eventually chased into the backyard of the residence and Galloway allegedly punched her in the forehead with his fist and threatened to go into the front yard and hit her car with the bat and ram her car with his vehicle, according to the arrest report.
The victim then told Galloway that she was having a friend come and pick her up, and the suspect allegedly said he was going to block the driveway so she couldn’t leave.
Galloway was arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center without incident.
