Altercation leads to arrest for narcotics
Cassandra Jones was arrested on March 26 and charged with under the influence of a controlled substance and domestic battery after deputies were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress at an address on Postal Road.
When deputies made contact with the reporting party, she reportedly said that her co-worker and her co-worker’s daughter had been involved in a fight. The co-worker and the co-worker’s daughter were identified as Susan Richardson and Cassandra Jones.
The reporting party reportedly told deputies that Richardson and Jones got into an altercation over custody of Jones minor child. The reporting party explained that things quickly escalated and Jones began shoving Richardson in the chest area.
When deputies spoke with Richardson, she reportedly said that Jones had shoved her and that Jones was also allegedly high on drugs.
When deputies spoke with Jones they noticed that her speech was very rapid and she had white foam coming from her mouth. Deputies noted that Jones was hysterical, crying and unable to stand still.
When deputies asked if Jones was under the influence of any narcotics, she reportedly admitted to smoking weed and heroin the morning of the alleged altercation and using methamphetamine the previous night.
Jones was subsequently arrested and transported to the jail and booked on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance and domestic battery.
Man jailed for domestic violence
William Briggs was jailed on March 26 and charged with domestic battery after deputies with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a suspected domestic battery at a residence on Fox Avenue.
Deputies made contact with the victim who reportedly said that her husband, identified as Briggs, grabbed her arms and held her down the previous night and the alleged abuse continued until the next morning.
When deputies spoke with the victim’s daughter, she reportedly gave a similar account as well as telling deputies that she could hear the victim yelling for Briggs to stop. The daughter also claimed to have witnessed Briggs holding the victim down and preventing her from leaving or fleeing.
When deputies attempted to speak with Briggs, he reportedly refused to answer any questions regarding what happened and claimed he was sleeping and did not know what happened. Deputies observed marks on the victim’s arms.
Briggs was subsequently arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center and booked on the charge of domestic battery.
