Man arrested after allegedly breaking into local church
A man was taken into custody last week after allegedly breaking into a local church, causing damage to the building.
Frank J. Hyde was arrested by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday and charged with preliminary charges of damage property used for religion, destruction of property and unlawful use of a controlled substance after he allegedly broke into Trinity Assembly of God Church.
Police responded to the church after it was reported that a burglary was in progress at the site.
The reporting party told law enforcement that an unknown male broke into the building and was still inside, possibly barricaded in a closet as police responded.
When sheriff’s deputies entered the church they allegedly located Hyde inside of a storage closet.
After discovering Hyde, police said he spoke incoherently about dogs chasing him and that a janitor told him to hide. Blood was visible on Hyde and his clothing.
After being placed into custody it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant on file.
After searching the property officers found a broken window, which the reporting party claimed was worth $2,000, and blood marks on several different walls throughout the church.
Hyde allegedly told officers that he was trying to climb high to get away from the dogs chasing him.
After being transported to Desert View Hospital for treatment Hyde was taken to the Nye County Detention Center where he was booked and submitted a voluntary urine test. The test came back presumptive positive for methamphetamines.
Hyde is being held without bail.
Man arrested after allegedly driving under the influence with infant daughter in vehicle
A Pahrump man was arrested last week on preliminary charges after allegedly driving under the influence with his infant daughter in his vehicle.
Miles Shannon Tillery was taken into custody by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office April 14 on preliminary charges of DUI drugs second offense, after it was discovered that he allegedly drove while high on marijuana with his eight-month-old daughter in his Dodge pickup truck with him.
Tillery was initially pulled over after a sheriff’s deputy noticed his truck did not have illumination on the license plate and a tail light that was out.
After making contact with Tillery, the officer noticed his eyes were pinpoint and bloodshot, in addition to Tillery looking bewildered.
According to police, Tillery denied drinking any alcohol or using any drugs before driving and a background check showed that he was arrested in 2011 for drugs and as well as being convicted of DUI.
Tillery was asked to step out of the vehicle and he appeared unsteady according to the officer.
After initially denying using any drugs, Tillery allegedly admitted that he used marijuana within in the last five hours.
After agreeing to submit to field sobriety tests, Tillery failed all tests except the preliminary breath test and was placed under arrest.
A baggie with a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana was allegedly found in the watch pocket of Tillery’s shorts, which the police report states Tillery said was his weed. The substance tested presumptive positive for marijuana.
After being read his Nevada implied consent, Tillery allegedly denied a request to submit to evidentiary testing.
Tillery was arrested and taken to the Nye County Detention Center without incident.
