Registered sex offender discovered in vehicle naked
A Mesquite man was arrested last week after he was allegedly discovered nude in his vehicle.
Scott Mcmaster, 53, was taken into custody by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 18 and charged with a preliminary felony count of obtaining/using an ID of another person to avoid/delay arrest.
A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of Leslie Street on a report of naked man being on and off the property at Nevada Treasure RV Park.
When the responding deputy arrived, the reporting party directed him to a bush Mcmaster was hiding behind, the arrest report stated.
Mcmaster came out from behind the bush and told the deputy his name was a name other than his own on two occasions, with one name coming back as an out-of-state man.
When Mcmaster finally told the officer his real name, dispatch alerted the deputy that he was a sex offender out of Mesquite. Mcmaster was convicted of attempted child molestation in Chandler, Arizona in 1996.
Mcmaster explained that he thought he had a warrant out for his arrest, which is why he provided the deputy with a false name, the arrest report stated.
The deputy determined that Mcmaster used the identification of another in an attempt not to be prosecuted for an outstanding warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.
Mcmaster, who arrived in town Monday night, was arrested on the preliminary felony charge and taken to the Nye County Detention Center without further notice. He was being held on $5,000 bond.
Man arrested after allegedly stealing items from store, breaking into truck
The Nye County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pahrump man after he allegedly stole items from a local grocery store and then broke into a vehicle.
Lucas Partain was taken into custody on Aug. 18 and charged with a preliminary felony count of attempted grand larceny and a single preliminary count of theft.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Smith’s Food and Drug on Highway 160 in reference to a shoplifting incident.
A witness at the scene told the responding deputy that they had seen Partain taking two or three bottles of vodka from the grocery store’s shelf, the arrest report stated.
The witness said after Partain exited the business, he went to the side of the building and urinated on it, before making his way back into the store, only to emerge with a case of orange soda, the sheriff’s office said.
Partain then allegedly placed the sodas in the back of a red Dodge pickup truck belonging to someone other than himself, the arrest report stated.
The witness then claimed that Partain forced open the rear window of the truck, placed the sodas inside the cab of the truck, before proceeding to get into the truck himself as the deputy arrived on the scene.
The deputy witnessed Partain fully inside the red truck, sitting in the driver’s side seat.
The deputy found the case of orange soda inside the bed of the truck, and then found a 750ml bottle of vodka that was still cool from being inside the store, the arrest report stated.
A deputy then pulled out another bottle of vodka from Partain’s right pant leg and noticed another bottle of vodka 10 feet away from the truck smashed on the ground.
Partain told the deputy that he owned the vodka, but he was unable to provide proof of purchase for the items and had no explanation why he entered a vehicle not belonging to him.
Partain allegedly told the deputy, “I’m fucked up,” and an odor of alcohol was coming from his breath. The deputy also noticed Partain’s eyes were glazed, he had an unsteady gait and had slurred speech, the arrest report said.
Partain was arrested on the two charges and transported to the Nye County Detention Center. The deputy noted that once Partain arrived at the detention center, that he urinated on his door from inside his holding cell.
