Man charged with assault on spouse
Robert Alan Steinberg was jailed on Feb. 6 and charged with domestic battery, battery with a deadly weapon and assault after deputies with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a domestic violence call at a residence on My Way Street.
As deputies were responding to the report, dispatch reportedly advised that the male, later identified as Steinberg, had run over the victim and she was lying on the ground with injuries to her left leg.
When deputies spoke with the victim, she reportedly stated that Steinberg came to the residence to retrieve his vehicle and they began to have a verbal argument. The victim explained that Steinberg began throwing car batteries at her but missed.
Steinberg then allegedly got into his vehicle and struck the victim, causing the injuries to her leg. As deputies were speaking with the victim they reportedly observed fresh acceleration marks where the victim had been lying in the driveway.
When deputies made contact with Steinberg at an address on East Simkins Road, he reportedly stated that the victim jumped on the vehicle and he proceeded to drive off with her on top because he believed she was faking. Steinberg was subsequently arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center and booked on charges of domestic battery, battery with a deadly weapon and assault.
Deputies noted in the arrest report that Steinberg has a prior history of domestic battery.
Woman arrested after failing to report accident
Erindira G. Gonzalez-Ramirez was arrested on Feb. 7 and charged with fail to drive on right side of road with accident and fail to report accident after Nevada Highway Patrol received a report of an accident on State Route 160 at mile marker 32 in Nye County.
NHP troopers made contact with the female driver at approximately 7:28 a.m. and identified the driver as Ramirez. As troopers spoke to Ramirez they reportedly smelled the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle.
When questioned by troopers about the accident, Ramirez reportedly stated that she swerved because an animal ran out in front of her.
Troopers asked how much she had to drink and Ramirez reportedly stated she had consumed one beer at approximately 8 p.m. the night before and she was coming from a bonfire near Beatty.
Ramirez was subsequently arrested and transported to the jail and booked on charges of fail to drive on right side of road with accident and fail to report accident.
According to the arrest report, Ramirez was not charged with driving under the influence because all preliminary breath tests returned with negative results.
Man charged with possession of a controlled substance
Donald James Gripp was jailed on Feb. 7 and charged with possession of a controlled substance after deputies were dispatched to a residence on West McMurray Drive regarding a domestic disturbance.
As deputies were responding, dispatch reportedly advised that the male, identified as Gripp, was breaking things inside the residence and had a knife on him. When deputies arrived, they located Gripp at the intersection of McMurray Drive and Blagg Road.
As deputies were driving up, they reportedly saw Gripp place his hands in his pockets and ordered him to show his hands. As deputies were conducting a search of Gripp, they retrieved a small clear plastic baggie with suspected methamphetamine inside.
Gripp was arrested and transported to the jail and booked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
