Man fails to register address, lands in jail
Eddgar Humberto Romero was arrested on June 3 and faces a preliminary charge of sex offender fail to notify/change address after officers with the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation learned that he had failed to register a current address.
Romero reportedly filed the required monthly report at Parole and Probation on May 6 showing he was residing at an address on Terry Drive. When officers made an inquiry at the residence on May 20 they reportedly learned that the current residents did not know Romero.
Romero was convicted in 2006 of two counts of attempt sexual assault in Clark County.
Parole and Probation Officer John Wehrly explained that Romero moved to Pahrump in 2012 after being paroled and will be required to register any change of address to the department as part of the requirement of lifetime supervision.
Romero was subsequently arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center and booked on the above charges and held on $5,000 bond.
Man jailed after traffic stop results in arrest for possession of firearm
Xavier Zarate was jailed on June 4 and faces preliminary charges of possession by prohibited person, fail to register by convicted person and habitual criminal after deputies responded to a report of a possible dispute between two individuals, one subsequently identified as Zarate.
When deputies located the vehicle they conducted a traffic stop in the area of Homestead Road and Turner Boulevard.
As deputies approached the vehicle they reportedly noted that Zarate was in the passenger seat and asked him to step out and he was put in handcuffs for officer safety.
Deputies confirmed through dispatch that Zarate was a felon for being a prohibited person with a firearm. Zarate gave deputies consent, when asked, to search his bags and found a Glock .40 magazine and two 7.62 type magazines as well as numerous other magazines for additional guns were recovered.
As deputies continued their search of the bags and vehicle, they reportedly located a bottle of Betadine solution, trash bags, miscellaneous type leather straps and mace.
Deputies also found additional bags that reportedly belonged to Zarate in the trunk of the vehicle where more ammo was found in the bags along with three hypodermic needles and an electronic scale.
Zarate was subsequently arrested and transported to the jail and booked on the above charges and held on $10,640 bond.
Deputies noted in the arrest report that Zarate has five felony convictions going back over 30 years.
Stealing from family member lands woman in jail
Lea Armendariz was arrested on June 4 and faces preliminary charges of grand larceny less than $2,500, conceal evidence and two counts of buy/possess/conceal stolen merchandise after deputies took a report in the front office of the sheriff’s office about a suspected theft.
The victim reportedly told deputies that her sister-in-law, identified as Armendariz, had allegedly stolen her wedding ring on May 29.
Deputies checked with the pawn shop databases and discovered that Armendariz had pawned an engagement ring on May 29 but it had been picked up on June 2.
When deputies made contact with Armendariz at her residence, she reportedly denied any knowledge of the theft but eventually she admitted that she pawned the ring at a second pawn shop on June 2 because she thought that the ring would not be tracked at the second pawn shop.
Armendariz was subsequently arrested on the above charges and booked and held on $12,500 bond.
