Beatty man jailed for theft, drugs
Kyle Cathcart was arrested on May 29 and faces preliminary charges of unlawful taking of prescriptions, possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny after deputies with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a theft at US Ecology Nevada, Inc. in Beatty.
When deputies made contact with the manager he reportedly said that there had been an incident with one employee stealing from another. The manager explained that the front desk receptionist noticed money missing and a bottle of Lortab pills from her purse on May 28.
According to the manager, the human resources department was made aware of the situation on May 29 and reviewed the security footage. Deputies viewed the security footage and reportedly observed Cathcart remove a bag allegedly belonging to the receptionist and go back into his office. After a few minutes, Cathcart is reportedly seen walking out of his office but sees two visitors and goes back in to his office and places the bag under the desk.
Deputies met with Cathcart at the Sheriff’s Office and read him his Miranda rights.
When deputies produced the video evidence, Cathcart reportedly said the bag he took only had office supplies in it. Deputies were able to confirm that the bag belonged to the receptionist.
Cathcart was arrested on May 29 at his residence and transported to the jail, booked and held on $10,640 bond.
6 arrested after search warrant results in drugs
Six people were arrested on May 31 and face a number of preliminary charges relating to drugs, drug paraphernalia and possession of a dangerous weapon after deputies served a search warrant at an address on West Charleston Park Avenue.
When deputies made entry into the home they were reportedly met by six individuals who were all in the master bedroom.
Deputies found multiple pipes commonly used to ingest marijuana, two scales, multiple clear plastic baggies which contained suspected methamphetamine and hypodermic needles, as well as various pills which were scattered all around the bedroom. In the master bathroom, deputies reportedly found a pipe which is commonly used to ingest methamphetamine that was in the trash can as well as another pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana.
Deputies noted in the arrest report that when they entered the bedroom there was a smoke cloud and a strong smell of burned marijuana.
All six individuals were subsequently arrested and transported to the jail.
Whitney Hawker, Alexandra Bostain and Ted Barcley face preliminary charges of possession of controlled substance – first, conspiracy to violate the uniformed controlled substance act – first, possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled substance. Hawker has a bond amount of $10,640. Bostain has a bond amount of $15,640. Barcley has a bond amount of 15,640.
Gordon Hyatt faces preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance — first, possession of a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to violate the uniformed controlled substance act — first, possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled substance. Hyatt has a bond amount of $27,890. Hyatt was found to be in possession of a set of brass knuckles and deputies also learned that he had three felony warrants and three misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.
Darik Thunstrom faces preliminary charges of possession of controlled substance – first, conspiracy to violate the uniformed controlled substance act – first, possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled substance and a parole and probation violation. Thunstrom has a bond amount of $15,640.
William Piper faces preliminary charges of possession of controlled substance – first, conspiracy to violate the uniformed controlled substance act – first, possession of drug paraphernalia and under the influence of a controlled substance and a parole and probation violation. Williams has a bond amount of $15,640.
Man jailed for drugs and paraphernalia
Jordan Boyer was jailed on May 30 and faces preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on South Lola Lane.
When deputies made contact with the male, subsequently identified as Boyer, they reportedly observed Boyer leaning into the driver’s side of a pickup truck in the driveway. When deputies asked Boyer to come towards them, he reportedly stated, “No, I’m going inside.” Boyer was subsequently ordered to the front of the patrol vehicle.
Deputies noticed that as Boyer was walking towards the front of the patrol vehicle, he was holding a red and white cigarette box. When deputies began their investigation, Boyer reportedly made a derogatory comment and started to walk away but was detained and put into handcuffs.
After being put in handcuffs, Boyer was searched and deputies found a device commonly used to ingest or smoke heroin. Boyer reportedly admitted to deputies that he is a heroin user. When deputies asked, Boyer gave consent to search his vehicle.
When deputies began to search the vehicle, they reportedly saw a cigarette box with a yellow object sticking out of it in the bed of the truck, within arm’s reach of where Boyer was previously standing.
When deputies opened the cigarette box they found another device commonly used to smoke heroin and a piece of tin foil with heroin on the foil.
Boyer reportedly told deputies that prior to their arrival he had purchased $20 worth of heroin.
Boyer was subsequently arrested, transported to the jail and booked on the above listed charges and held on $5,640 bond.
