Desert View fills two board vacancies

Desert View Hospital announced last week that it appointed two new members to its board of directors.

Paul Healey, a certified public accountant (CPA), and Brian Strain, owner and operator of a local State Farm Insurance office, were selected to fill two vacant positions on Desert View Hospital’s current board. Healey and Strain officially began serving in their new capacity with the hospital the week of May 12.

Healey is a self-employed CPA whose practice reportedly concentrates on accounting, financial services, taxes and specialized services relating to bankruptcy. He has previously served as the vice president and chief financial officer for a number of organizations, both in Las Vegas and New York. He has more than 12 years of experience as a financial officer, and has been a CPA since 1980. He is also skilled in the preparation of business plans, business valuations, services related to business acquisitions and divestitures and lender relations.

In addition to his work with State Farm, Strain is an active member of the Pahrump community and has served on several boards for organizations throughout the area. Strain is part of the Pahrump Rotary Club, where he served on its board of directors for three years. He is also serving his sixth year on the board of directors for the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, and served as the Chamber’s president in 2013. Strain is also a supporter of local sports programs, including the AYSO youth soccer program and Pahrump Valley High School athletics program.

DVH Chief Executive Officer Kelly Adams said he believes they will be a great asset to the hospital.

“We are pleased to make the announcement of these two board members. Their experience and community involvement will blend in quite well with the existing members,” Adams said. “With the constant changes in healthcare today, it is most gratifying to have experienced board members to provide input and guidance.”
