Desert View Hospital hires new marketing director

Desert View Hospital started the new year with the hiring of a new director of marketing.

Michelle Hinds was selected to replace former director Meagan Kowalski, who moved on from the position in late November.

“It is with pleasure that I announce Michelle Hinds as the new director of marketing for Desert View Hospital,” said Kelly Adams, the hospital’s chief executive officer.

Michelle has an extensive background in marketing that goes beyond the basics of advertising with a bachelor of science in marketing and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. Michelle is a native to Nevada and a full-time Pahrump resident.

“Our hospital makes a critically important promise to the members of our community every day,” Hinds said. “One of my top priorities as director of marketing is to continue that promise to all of our patients and families.”

Hinds’ husband was active duty Navy, which meant she moved around quite often. In 2005 she and her husband lived on the Kauai Naval Base and there she worked for several years in marketing and procurement. Hinds and her husband were then transferred to the Coronado Naval Station where she was doing much of the same marketing work that she did in Hawaii.

No matter where they ended up living, Hinds made an effort to volunteer her time and efforts to an organization.

“Each time I picked up volunteering, whether it was Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary to serving veterans and other military families,” she said. “After my husband retired we came back to Nevada and settled here in Pahrump.”

Hinds last volunteered with nearby Ash Meadows, located in Amargosa Valley.

“I finished up my last few classes in Washington D.C. in 2013, came back home and started volunteering at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge,” she said.

Hinds said she is excited to connect with the medical and professional community around the valley.

“I am looking forward to focusing on the Pahrump community and the golf tournament charity for Pahrump students, my first order of business,” she said.
