Officials at Desert View Hospital are touting their accomplishments over the past year as they look forward to 2015.
The hospital has published its Annual Report to the Community for 2014, which will be mailed to every address in Pahrump.
Extra copies will also be available at the campus.
Among some of the highlights contained in the report, the hospital received a 90 percent overall patient satisfaction rating.
“This past year has been full of successes and changes for Desert View Hospital,” said Kelly Adams, Chief Executive Officer at DVH. “It is with pleasure that we present some of our accomplishments in 2014.”
One of the most notable changes was in the hospital’s emergency department.
Additionally, Adams said a new group of emergency room physicians arrived at the hospital in August, all of whom are board-certified in emergency medicine.
“That led to a reduction in the number of patients who left the department without being seen, and allowed for more efficiency throughout,” he said. “It’s been a tremendous success.”
Other recent changes included the addition of two new primary care physicians at Mountain Valley Physicians Group.
The hospital also saw an overall increase in services rendered to the community, including surgery, cardiology, mammography and in-patient volume.
Meagan Kowalski, Desert View’s marketing director, noted that additional women’s services are also part of the increase in services provided.
“Woman’s Health Association of Southern Nevada came out and partnered with us,” she said. “They operate on Wednesdays out of our Mountain Valley Clinic. It obviously expanded those services in Pahrump since it was limited before then.”
There were also significant clinical achievements in 2014, including critical care training for nursing staff.
Cardiopulmonary Manager John Foresee was named Rural Respiratory Therapist of the Year, and overall patient satisfaction at Desert View Hospital increased to 90 percent, according to Adams.
The report also served to briefly announce some of the hospital’s future plans, including the addition of a vascular surgeon.
This year, the hospital has plans to also expand its outpatient physical therapy services to an off-site location, and will add a second Mountain Valley Physicians Group clinic on Highway 160.
“We look forward to continuing to increase our services for you in 2015,” Adams said.
