DVH, hospice to host fair next week

Desert View Hospital, in partnership with Creekside Hospice, is planning to host its first-ever annual Caregiver Resource Fair next week.

The medical facility and hospice group invite members of the Pahrump community to stop by the hospital lobby Wednesday afternoon to meet with and learn more about a number of attending organizations who provide support and services to those caring locally for others in their lives.

The goal of the fair, according to Desert View Hospital Director of Marketing and Physician Liaison Meagan Kowalski, is to provide caregivers with one set place where they can gather the information they need to better help them in their caregiving responsibilities — whether those responsibilities are to adults or to children.

The hope is that by bringing all of the resources to one event in one place Pahrump caregivers will be better able to see what services are available to them in their own community.

“Pahrump has so many resources for our community members, and we want to help spread the word about what this town has to offer,” Kowalski said in a statement this week about the Caregiver Resource Fair.

“Whether you care for a child with behavioral issues, a family member with a health condition, an older adult, or are even dealing with something yourself that you need support with, this is an event you don’t want to miss,” she said.

In addition to the abundance of information that exhibitors will be sharing with attendees during next week’s resource fair, guests of the event will also reportedly have the chance to participate in other activities as well, including a bingo-style game where they can qualify to win door prizes from vendors at the fair.

This is one of several health-related fairs Desert View has held recently. Earlier this month the hospital hosted a successful back-to-school fair for children.

The first annual Caregiver Resource Fair is scheduled to take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 4 in the Desert View Hospital lobby, located at 360 S. Lola Lane. This event is free and open to the public.
