Desert View Hospital (DVH) CEO Kelly Adams believes greater efficiency inside the emergency room means shorter wait times, increased productivity and overall patient satisfaction.
As such, the hospital is welcoming a new group of emergency room physicians. They will replace the group that has been on campus for more than eight years.
DVH Marketing Director Meagan Kowalski said this week that after assessing the needs of the community, hospital staff embraced the change.
“The emergency room is obviously what the community sees the most and that is really their first point of contact with the hospital unless they come here for outpatient services like radiology or lab. In everything we do, we are always looking for ways to improve and better ourselves,” he said.
The new physicians are with the group, Advanced Care Emergency Services (ACES).
Adams noted that the change will also result in fewer transfers to Las Vegas hospitals to the benefit of the community.
“I am most pleased to announce the changes in our emergency room physicians. This new group of physicians are all board certified in emergency medicine. This change represents another effort in the continuing improvement of healthcare delivery in Pahrump and the Pahrump Valley,” Adams said.
Kowalski, meanwhile, said the new ER physicians come with additional experience and training.
“Since they are all board certified in emergency medicine, they don’t just complete their normal medical schooling and then do a residency, they actually have to complete a residency in emergency medicine which they have already done. That’s very important because in the ER, you see everything from A to Z and you have to be prepared for everything. Physicians who are board certified in emergency medicine have the experience to handle whatever comes their way,” she said.
DVH Emergency Department Manager, Sherry Cipollini said she is looking forward to the arrival of the ACES later this month.
“We’re excited for the positive changes that will be brought about by fresh ideas from this group, such as improved flow and decreased wait times to be seen. We are all looking forward to establishing a strong working relationship between the nursing staff and these physicians that will be reflected in the care provided to our patients,” she said.
