Officials at Desert View Hospital will officially welcome two new family medical practitioners to the Mountain Valley Physicians Group Monday.
Dr. Sejal Duggal arrives in Pahrump after working as a primary care physician at a family practice in Kentucky.
As a board certified physician in family medicine, Duggal earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Lublin where she went on to complete her residency at Baptist Health Family Medicine in Madisonville, Kentucky.
Desert View Hospital Marketing Director Meagan Kowalski said the graduate of Texas A&M University is described by her peers as a highly motivated individual, who strives to provide meaningful, efficient, patient-centered care.
“Dr. Duggal believes in spending time with her patients, giving patients a voice, and educating patients so they can be more in charge of their health. She is excited to bring continuity of care for patients seeking a primary care physician, and to join a new practice with tremendous community support and enthusiasm,” she said.
Kowalski also said the arrival of both physicians brings a new dynamic to the hospital following the recent closure of another medical facility in town.
“She is looking forward to treating patients ages 5 and older here in Pahrump which is good because Happy- land Pediatrics closed their office. There is definitely a need for physicians in town who can see children. They won’t, however, be seeing children under the age of 5,” she said.
As a husband and wife team, Dr. Amit Duggal joins the staff of Mountain Valley Physicians Group after working as a Primary Care provider for Baptist Health in Kentucky.
Kowalski noted that as a member of the American Association of Family Physicians, Duggal is experienced in primary care, emergency medicine, and urgent care.
“He is a board certified physician who earned his medical degree at St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine. He is coming from a rural setting and understands that type of patient base. He completed his residency in family medicine at Baptist Health Family Medicine in Madisonville, Kentucky. He is a highly driven and motivated physician who is passionate about advances affecting patients in the medical field.
The marketing director also said that even though both physicians provide care for those five and older, they are not pediatric physicians.
“As family practitioners, they can both see individuals who are 5 and older. With both doctors coming here they can see a diversity of patients, which is great for our community,” she said.
Mountain Valley Physicians Group’s Eva De Santiago said this week that with the ongoing growing needs of the community, the arrival of both doctors was quite timely.
“The need is definitely a need there and we continue to stress to the community that our primary concern is always compassionate patient care,” she said.
Desert View CEO Kelly Adams was equally enthusiastic about the arrival of the Duggals.
“Both Drs. Sejal and Amit Duggal are outstanding individuals who will offer personalized quality care to patients in our area. We are excited to have these physicians join our community,” Adams said.
