Fantasy sports to return to sports books as early as August

Daily fantasy sports betting may return casinos with initial approval June 8 by gaming regulators of a gaming license to race and sports book pioneer Vic Salerno that would operate off a platform similar to pari-mutuel wagering.

The Gaming Control Board voted unanimously to recommend to the Gaming Commission for the licensure of Salerno and his company, US Fantasy, for an off-track, pari-mutuel sports system operator’s license to be the first to offer betting on fantasy sports contests through Nevada casinos.

Salerno said that if everything goes according to plan, visitors to Nevada casinos could by August begin betting on fantasy sports, from football to baseball.

Daniel Shapiro ofWilliam Hill US, the company that runs the sports book inside the Pahrump Nugget, said adding fantasy gaming to the sports books locally anytime soon is unlikely.

“We have no plans to offer fantasy sports at this time,” Shapiro said.
