No arrests have been made following the suspicious fire that broke out on Feb. 9 at the landmark Binion Ranch in Pahrump. A multi-use building on the sprawling 130-acre property near East Wilson and South Bolling roads was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived on scene just before 8 p.m.
“It was old timber construction,” said Pahrump Valley Fire & Rescue Service Chief Scott Lewis, who called the fire “suspect in nature.”
The structure was mostly used for storage, he said, and was connected to an underground tunnel.
The fire was several thousand feet from the ranch’s main house that is occupied by tenants. No injuries were reported.
The ranch formerly was owned by the late gambling executive Ted Binion.
“We also had a previous fire there several years ago that was also suspect in nature,” Lewis said.
At least two structures on the historic property were destroyed by fire in September 2019.
“There were no finalized arrests in that case,” Lewis said.
The Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
