At least four people were displaced after a fire gutted the interior of their home late Tuesday evening.
Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Services Chief Scott Lewis said the fire broke out at a Pahrump mobile home park at 680 West Street just after 11:30 p.m.
While en route, Lewis said crews were informed by dispatchers that two individuals were possibly trapped in the rear part of the structure.
Additionally, Lewis said once inside, crews observed that the residence’s interior was altered from its original design.
“Upon arrival, we had to get through security gates and such,” he said. “We did a quick scene size-up and risk assessment, where crews commenced an interior attack and quickly knocked down the fire in the center portion of the structure. Crews also conducted a primary search of the dwelling and determined that there were no occupants inside the structure. Interestingly enough, this single-wide manufactured dwelling was actually divided into two equal parts, creating a duplex.”
Burl Benner, who owns two properties at the site, said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within minutes after their arrival.
“I don’t know exactly how it started, but it was burning pretty good for a little while,” he said. “The fire department showed up and got it taken care of pretty quickly. There were two people living in the front and two people living in the rear. The owner of the park put them up in two different trailers.”
Lewis, meanwhile said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
