Area veterans looking for straight answers about their rights and benefits earned through military have an ally on their side.
The Disabled American Veterans’ Mobile Service Office (MSO) program is bringing free services to Pahrump to help veterans with their benefits.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, the Mobile Service Office will be at Desert View Hospital, on 360 S. Lola Lane.
According to a news release, the Disabled American Veterans national service officer — professionally schooled in the full range of benefits for military veterans, retirees and their families — will provide counseling and claim filing assistance.
“Like you, the national service officer is a veteran,” the release stated. “Because the (Disabled American Veterans) is a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to serving you, the (national service officer) has only one goal, which is to make sure you get all the benefits and services you earned.
“Again, help offered through the program is completely free, just like all (Disabled American Veterans) services to veterans and their families. DAV (Disabled American Veterans) membership is not required. This is free, professional assistance with your claims from a highly trained expert.”
“Ensuring every veteran has access to top-notch, free assistance and representation is vital to our mission,” National Service Director Jim Marszalek said.
The work of Disabled American Veterans’ national service officers extends well beyond their offices and deep within the veterans’ community, Marszalek said.
