Nye County’s casino revenue continued its downward decline in August driven by losses in bingo and a drop in table game and slot wins.
The Gaming Control Board said casinos countywide collected $3.5 million from gamblers, a drop of 5.6 percent.
Table games lost $54,000 in August, driven by a $111,000 loss in bingo. Slot machine revenue slipped 2.04 percent driven by 5 percent decrease in multi-denomination slot revenue to $1.9 million, and 30 percent decreases in 5 cent and $1 slots. Penny slots did see an 11 percent increase to $1.2 million.
Nye casino revenue is down 3.5 percent to $10.9 million from June through August, and flat at $48.3 million for the 12 months ending Aug. 31. The decreases come despite the opening of Terrible’s Road House Casino, formerly Mountain View Casino, in late March.
The decline in the county mirrors a larger trend statewide, which collected $908.2 million from gamblers in August, a decline of almost 1.4 percent. Las Vegas Strip casino revenue declined 4.7 percent to $527.4 million.
