The Board of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development recently voted to approve the applications for seven companies proposing the creation of more than 1,000 jobs and investing more than $47 million in Nevada.
“Nevada leads the nation in private-sector job creation and continues to break all-time records for employment thanks to the hard work of our business community and their faith in the Silver State,” Gov. Brian Sandoval said in a statement.
“The applications before the GOED board today clearly illustrate the increasing diversity of our economy and underscore Nevada’s desirability as a location of choice for starting, building and relocating growth-oriented businesses,” Sandoval said.
The board also approved an additional $340,000 in funding for the Workforce Innovation for the New Nevada (WINN) program to train workers in advanced manufacturing skills.
Created during the 2011 session of the Nevada Legislature, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development is the result of a collaborative effort between the Nevada Legislature and Sandoval to restructure economic development in the state.
