The U.S. Bureau of Land Management Tonopah office has invited Nye County to be a cooperating agency in the environmental impact statement for the Gemfield Mine project.

An increase in the county gas tax by one cent per gallon per year for the next five years will be up for discussion when the Nye County Regional Transportation Commission meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the commissioner’s chambers.
The RTC will also consider a right-of-way application with the BLM to extend the old Route 16 to the Front Site Firearms Institute. There is also a discussion scheduled on identifying property to be acquired for a proposed beltway around Pahrump. Board members will also consider recommendations to a master plan steering committee on appropriate streets for off-highway vehicle routes.
A decision is scheduled on repaving Manse Road from Homestead Road to Hafen Ranch Road.
