Heavenly Sweets Bakery ready for business

With a shortage of fresh-made baked goods available in the valley, a new business is ready to give Pahrump residents a taste of Heaven.

Heavenly Sweets Bakery, located at 3640 S. Highway 160, opened its doors Saturday, offering an array of pastries, cookies and breads that are made from scratch every day.

Co-owned by friends Bethany Cagle and Rayna Frost, the two got the idea for the business after working together over the hump for the past couple of years.

“We started at farmers markets out in Las Vegas to see what customers thought of our product before we opened an actual store,” Cagle said. “We were doing that for two years at Fresh 52 Farmers Market at Tivoli Village in Vegas.”

The duo took part in a farmers market in a different area of Las Vegas, which helped them figure out that depending on location, people’s favorite items vary.

“We started out at Town Square (Mall) where the customers liked cookies more compared to Tivoli Village where they liked the pies and quick breads more,” Cagle said. “Every area is different.”

Cagle picked up baking while in Maine where she was born, and and been involved with the business ever since. Frost got involved in the business through her grandparents in California, as she grew up around it and took a liking to it at a young age.

The bakery specializes in yeast breads, pies, cookies, pastries and since their opening they have found that their breads have been the bestseller early on. There is also hot and iced coffee and chai tea offered, with other drinks like lattes on the horizon.

Heavenly Sweets is in the same spot that the old Pahrump Bakery was located, and through their first few days Cagle is finding most people still think it’s the same business.

“Well they’re still learning that we’re not the same people,” Cagle said. “So we need to get the word out that we’re new owners, in the same location of the old bakery.”

After mulling over opening a shop in Las Vegas, Frost’s uncle, who is a realtor in town, showed the two the spot off the highway, which immediately caught their eye.

“We found this space and it was fully equipped, so that’s why we jumped on it,” Cagle said. “Her uncle said, ‘the town needs a bakery and you girls should come out here.'”

The building is hidden behind Custom Health and Fitness, Big Apple Fireworks and other businesses along the front of the complex which makes it difficult for those who don’t know it’s there to see it. But the area businesses have been trying to aid the bakery by referring customers to the shop.

“It is tough, but with the offices open today, it has helped us greatly,” Cagle said. “We have had customers come in from Dotty’s and the fitness center, but it’s slow so far.”

To get their names out in the the community, Cagle and Frost plan to show face around town, handing out samples to various businesses around town.

For the residents they can’t reach through face-to-face meetings they want them to know they are here and ready to satisfy their sweet tooth.

“We bake fresh every day, with high-quality ingredients,” Cagle said. “Of course our charming personalities help too. We try to promote a comfortable atmosphere, where it’s quiet, so you can come relax, have some coffee.”

Cagle said that the store will have free Wi-Fi available to customers in the very near future, which will enhance their experience at the bakery.

With the holidays around the corner, Heavenly Fresh is ready to fulfill customers big and small’s every baking need.

“We’ll have sugar cookies, like ghosts and pumpkins and decorated cupcakes and cakes for Halloween,” Cagle said. “For Thanksgiving of course pies and chocolates and maybe fudges for Christmas. So we will be doing special things for each holiday.”
