It’s Desert View Hospital’s version of the annual Back to School Health Fair for the older set.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the hospital is holding its 4th annual free Autumn Health Awareness Festival.
Marketing Director Meagan Kowalski said the event gives adults an opportunity to receive no-cost flu shots, vision screenings, and other health related diagnoses.
“The flu shots are actually for those who are seven years of age and older. They will be available at no charge for those who are uninsured or underinsured. Walgreens will provide the immunizations. The hospital acts only as a venue for the shots. We do not keep records of the flu shots from our health fairs.”
More than 40 vendors have agreed to participate again this year.
Kowalski said the festival’s vendors will set up shop both indoors and outside the main entrance.
“All of the screening booths will be in the lobby and the rest will be outside at the circular driveway. Of course, the Rotary Club has agreed to provide free hot dogs and refreshments.”
Additionally, Kowalski said women will receive information on breast cancer, as October is traditionally Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“At the health fair itself, our imaging department will be here just to talk about mammograms and breast cancer, but for the month of October, we are offering screening mammograms for $75 for patients who decide not to use their insurance.”
Saturday’s health fair is co-sponsored by Roseman University of Health Sciences, which has campuses in Henderson and Las Vegas.
