Hot summer temperatures will continue in the valley over the next week, with possible relief in the form of rain showers beginning with the middle of the week.
The National Weather Service said high temperatures will range between 104 degrees today and topping at 110 degrees on Monday, dropping back to 104 by Wednesday.
Although slight, a slim chance of rain will move into the area Tuesday and Wednesday, with a better shot toward the end of the week.
“The middle part of next week we might have some moisture coming in,” said Andy Gorelow, National Weather Service meteorologist. “There will be a 10 percent chance of showers by Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Looks like toward the end of next week there will be a better chance, with seeing maybe some thunderstorms.”
Although temps will be up to 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, no record high temperatures will be in danger of being broken.
“We’re getting later into the summer now and the record highs tend to be about 114, 115, 116 degrees,” Gorelow said. “The hottest day will be Monday, and that will still be three to four degrees below the record.”
Lows will mostly be in the upper 60s over the next week, topping out in the lows 70s Monday and Tuesday as the high temps increase.
