BACKGROUND: “I’ve done a lot of things. I worked in Canada on the Alaskan Highway and in Alberta and Vancouver for the Motor Association before I retired and came here. I’ve been in media sales and sold web pages. I’ve been in real estate since 2000.
FIRST JOB: “I worked reinforcing airport hangars in 1952.”
YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I have lived in Pahrump for 16 years and worked here for 15 years. Here, I served on the board for No to Abuse for five years and have been involved in every organization out there. It was the same way in Canada. I was always volunteering for something.
“I also volunteer with the Death Valley 49ers.”
PERSONAL: “I walked out on my patio one day and asked myself where would I like to be. The answer is here. I’ve traveled all over the world and this is where I want to be.”
BUSINESS CLIMATE:
“The informal way of doing business here has been either a gain or loss because of it. It’s a great place for referral business. If you give someone good service, they are going to tell their friends.
“I don’t complain about bureaucracy. It’s easier for small businesses to come here than it is large business. I think the town and county should be less secretive. There have been big businesses wanting to come here but by the time they jump through all the hoops, you find they’ve gone somewhere else.
