BUSINESS: Owner Ron’s Maintenance and Repair

AGE: 67

BACKGROUND: “I’ve been fixing things all my life. I spent four years in the Navy as a machinist on the Enterprise and spent 40 years in service station repair and maintenance in Las Vegas before I moved here.”

FIRST JOB: “I worked installing aluminum siding on houses in Michigan when I was 17.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I’ve lived in Pahrump for seven years. I was going to retire until my neighbors and other people I knew began asking me if I could fix this or that. I’m a professional when it comes to lawn and garden equipmet, so, I started my business in my garage and out of my truck about five years ago.”

PERSONAL: “My hobby is racing remote control cars. I run the one-quarter scale, so they’re pretty big. I have been to one race out of state this year and plan to go to Boulder City this fall.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE:

“I think businesses should support the town. I don’t like to go to Las Vegas and usually, if I need something, I can find it here. If not, then I order it.

“I have the best customers in the world here. Everyone is kind and laid back.

“My business is doing well. I keep my rates reasonable and give good service. I haven’t had a complaint in five years.

“I think the local government should think first and act second. Stop looking outside of town rather than inside for advice. That’s not good.”
