BUSINESS: Just promoted to Casino Manager for Golden Casinos Group’s three properties

AGE: 43

BACKGROUND: “I started as a customer service rep in California before moving here and going to work in the cage at the old Mountain View. Before it burned down, I had the opportunity to learn how to deal and I carried that knowledge to Terrible’s Town. I worked as a dealer there before coming to work for the Nugget. I’ve been here as a dealer and table games manager for six years.”

FIRST JOB: “I was an order taker for a family-owned Italian restaurant in Upland, Calif.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I’ve been in Pahrump for 14 years and have worked here just as long. I’ve never had the time to become community-oriented until my promotion three weeks ago. I do have three teenagers and try to support Trojans athletics.”

PERSONAL: “I’m a collector of moustache memorabilia, coffee cups and such. I’m an avid reader and I read the young-adult books first to be sure they are suitable for my kids. As a family, we set aside days for family time to pack a picnic and explore Nevada. We also like to spend time in our own backyard gardening and swimming.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE:

“Pahrump is a great place for business, although I wish there were more things for the kids. I’d love to see a movie theater.

We need to keep our money here and support local businesses. My husband will be opening a business here soon and I’d suggest anyone looking to do the same start with the Nevada Rural Development Authority here. They can set you on the right path for licensure, financing and basically help with forming a workable business plan.
