TONOPAH — People who own more than six pets could apply for a pet fancier’s permit instead of a residential kennel, under an amendment to Nye County Code under consideration by commissioners at their 10 a.m. meeting here Tuesday.
The meeting can be viewed by video conference from the commissioner’s’chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Dr. on the Calvada Eye in Pahrump.
During a prior commissioners’ meeting, Susan Cronin, who recently was awarded a contract to run the Pahrump Animal Shelter, wanted to review the changes with the animal advisory board that met last week.
In other matters, commissioners will decide whether to participate in the Public Utilities Commission hearings on the Utilities Inc. of Central Nevada 2014 integrated resource plan.
The board will also discuss a competitive oil and gas lease sale by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Battle Mountain District. A discussion is scheduled on Nye County’s participation in a Tri-County Working Group.
The county will consider a contract with attorney George Benesch for protests on water project applications.
Commissioners will consider an agreement with Gold Creek Films Inc. for work on the Nye County History Project for the town of Beatty. Still another contract is up for approval with Wave Direct to supply 20 megabytes of Internet bandwidth from Pahrump.
Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the abandonment of Smith Lane in Amargosa Valley from Power Line Road one mile west.
Public hearings will be scheduled on a request by First Solar to increase the maximum generating capacity of their Sunshine Valley Solar Power Plant in Amargosa Valley from 65 megawatts to 110 megawatts.
Another public hearing will be set on amending Nye County Code setting up special use permits to operate medical marijuana establishments.
A third public hearing will be scheduled on an amendment to Nye County Code on the distribution of registration fees.
A contract with the Nevada State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund for repairs of the Gabbs sewer main and a companion agreement with Farr West Engineering are up for approval.
Frank and Brenda Jarvis requested approval of a parcel map subdividing 2.5 acres into a 1.9 acre and a .61-acre parcel in Beatty under the planning agenda.
A request for proposals to dispose of scrap metal at the Tonopah landfill will be considered.
Commissioners also will discuss a business associate agreement with Med Media for compliance with the final HIPAA Omnibus Rule, which governs patient privacy.
The Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board will consider a package liquor license for Stuff’d Deli at 5581 N. Highway 160 and a change of licensee for Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada.
