A Pahrump man was arrested last week after allegedly firing a gun to clear out a party in his home.
Hayden Craig O’Shaunecy was taken into custody by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office Saturday and charged with preliminary counts of assault with a deadly weapon, four counts; four counts of child neglect; discharging a firearm where a person was endangered; aiming a firearm at a human; and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, for the alleged incident.
Deputies were dispatched to an injury accident on at the intersection of Blosser Ranch Road and Barney Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy made contact with four juveniles who stated they just left a party with friends after an individual allegedly pulled a gun on them at the party, police said.
It was learned that the party was held at a residence on the 3500 block of Blosser Ranch. Deputies attempted to follow up on the juveniles’ claim but were unsuccessful.
As one of the deputies was leaving the scene he noted that he discovered what appeared to be a magazine to a small caliber handgun laying on the ground near the gate of the residence. The deputy confiscated it for safe keeping until the homeowner could be contacted to follow up on the alleged incident.
Later that night, a deputy received a call from the homeowner stating he spoke with O’Shaunecy, his stepson, and that he told him he took out a gun he claimed to be his and fired a round into the air so people would vacate the party.
Dispatch then informed officers that a man named Hayden had been calling all day and spoke to them in a rude manner demanding the deputy call him back and return the magazine to his gun, police said.
The deputy and O’Shaunecy arranged a meeting at a local casino parking lot to discuss the matter.
O’Shaunecy admitted to having a party at his home and said there were about 15 people there. He also stated that everyone there, including himself, was under the influence of alcohol and weed.
Furthermore, O’Shaunecy stated that he was aware that everyone except himself was under the age of 21.
After growing agitated with the amount of people in his home, O’Shaunecy said he grabbed his stepfather’s handgun out of the safe and told everyone to get out, firing a shot in the air.
O’Shaunecy claimed not to be aware if he pointed the gun at anyone, as he was under the influence of Xanax and alcohol. He also claimed he didn’t fire the shot until the vehicle that was involved in the crash was off the property, the sheriff’s office said.
In a follow-up interview, the juveniles were able to identify O’Shaunecy and said that the suspect did point a gun at them as they were leaving the driveway of the home.
The victims said they were scared and wanted to the leave the party after O’Shaunecy became “crazy,” police said.
While fleeing, the driver became panicked because of the situation, losing control of his vehicle and attempted to call for help, then crashed into a power pole, the arrest report stated.
All the juveniles were treated for injury and one of the passengers in the vehicle was flown to UMC hospital in Las Vegas after receiving extensive injuries from the crash, police said.
O’Shaunecy was arrested and booked into the Nye County Detention Center on the various preliminary charges and is being held on $47,560 bond.
