Man held on $120,000 bail in Tuesday stabbing

A local man is behind bars following a stabbing late Tuesday morning.

Nye County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Angel Uribe, 29, on several charges including attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon.

Authorities were dispatched to the area of 800 Bolling Street just after 9 a.m. where they found a man who had been stabbed at least once in the upper torso.

The initial investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s residence and proceeded to attack the man.

Following the attack, deputies say Uribe left the scene in a vehicle.

NCSO detectives were able to locate the suspect and he was taken into custody without further incident.

A search of the vehicle Uribe was driving uncovered a small baggie that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

Uribe was booked into the Nye County Detention Center and bail was set at $120,000.

Nye County Assistant Sheriff Rick Marshall said on Wednesday that detectives are still trying to piece together the actual motive for the attack.

“Right now I know there was another individual involved, who was a possible witness, but I don’t know the full story just yet. We’re still sorting through the information that was obtained up to this point,” he said.

Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and the victim was airlifted to University Medical Center’s trauma unit in Las Vegas.
