It’s that time of year again, when a new queen is set to take to the throne as Miss Pahrump.
The 2016 Miss Pahrump Pageant, presented by Saitta-Trudeau Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, is set to take place Saturday at Saddle West inside the showroom, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets, which can be purchased ahead of time from any of the contestants or at the door, are $10 for general seating and $15 for VIP.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the pageant and the theme of the event is “A Blast From the Past.”
Several of the past queens are expected to be in attendance Saturday night.
Winners of the pageant go on to represent the valley for the following year, attending events and doing community-based work in the area.
Last year’s winner, Hailey Meads, focused on health and fitness in the community and raised almost $1,100 for diabetic research through several fundraisers throughout the year.
Meads, who’s had Type 1 diabetes since she was three years old, most recently helped with the Paddle for the Cure event at Spring Mountain Motor Ranch, where she provided information on the disease to attendees.
The event is now planned to be an annual fundraiser and Meads plans to take part in it each year.
There are 10 girls vying for the shot at succeeding Meads as as the 2016 Miss Pahrump.
