Assemblyman James Oscarson has been named as head of a political action committee whose mission is to help elect candidates from the Republican Party to office in Nevada.
The Growth and Opportunity Political Action Committee, a group spearheaded by Assemblyman Paul Anderson, Assembly minority leader, helps the Republican Party thrive through fundraising and recruitment efforts in the state.
Anderson is stepping down, as he heads to take on his new role at the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). He is preceded by Steve Hill, executive director at GOED.
Anderson is expected to work as deputy director of GOED, during a transitional period, starting Oct. 2, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Sept. 20.
“It has always been an honor to represent the people of Nevada Assembly District 36, and it has been an honor to serve with Paul in the Assembly Republican leadership,” Oscarson said in a written statement provided by a PAC representative. “He will be missed in both of his roles, but I’m proud to continue his tradition of recruiting strong candidates, and running strong, competitive campaigns throughout Nevada.”
Anderson had a positive outlook for the PAC’s efforts in the 2018 election cycle with Oscarson as the helm of the PAC.
“James has been a leader in the Assembly on economic, education, health care and public lands issues for years, and he has my complete faith and trust in this new role,” Anderson said in a statement.
