NyE Communities Coalition is having their quarterly Job and Volunteer Fair this Friday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will be at the NyE Communities Coalition activity center, located at 1020 E. Wilson Road.
The fair is open to anyone who is interested in attending. There is no age limit.
Tiffany Murray, a resource director at the NyE Communities Coalition said, “We always expect anyone from teenagers to retired men and women to attend.”
This Job and Volunteer Fair gives the community a chance to learn and improve on their interview skills and workforce readiness. Many companies will be attending the event looking for potential employees.
Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation will be attending the fair, answering any questions that anyone may have.
Multiple agencies will be attending the event with volunteer and internship opportunities as well.
The NyE Communities Coalition has a closet full of interview clothing that anyone is welcome to come take a look at and take home if they find something that suits them.
Tammi Odegard, a workforce director at the NyE Communities Coalition recommends that anyone who attends in search of employment should bring a resume and any other items that should be brought to any general interview.
“The Job and Volunteer Fair is a good way for teenagers to practice how to apply for employment, how to dress, and how to properly conduct themselves professionally,” Odegard said.
Murray expects this upcoming fair will be spectacular. “I’m always expecting each event to be better than the previous,” Murray said.
Besides the Job and Volunteer Fair, the NyE Communities Coalition holds various workshops to help the community gain workforce readiness skills.
