After a long 14-year run, the Pahrump Party Supply store, owned by Lisa and Bob Holleman, is calling it quits.
This store is one of the biggest family-owned businesses to call it quits since the Floyds closed Ace Hardware store in 2012.
The husband and wife team said they are retiring.
“We are calling it quits due to health reasons,” Lisa Holleman said. “Bob and I are not as young as we used to be and we want to retire and enjoy our nine kids and 13 grandkids.”
The family has been a part of the Pahrump business scene since March of 2001, when they were operating out of what Lisa Holleman described as a large barn. They moved to their current location at 331 S. Frontage Road in 2003 and have been there ever since.
In addition to being business people, they have been heavily involved in the community. They are best known for organizing grad night for 12 straight years, which was their way of providing a safe place for the graduates to celebrate. The Hollemans did this after losing their own son to an alcohol-related accident.
The closing will take place over a year-long period.
“I expect to be fully closed by next spring,” Bob Holleman said. “We want to sell off the inventory so that if someone wants to buy and continue the store, the price will come down.”
The store did more than just sell party supplies. It also was the only store to rent tuxedos, sell wedding supplies, rent party chairs and tables, sell art supplies and sell scrapbooking supplies. The current plan is to sell the tuxedo rental as a separate business. The Hollemans will also be holding on to the table and chair rental and will probably sell off the wedding and scrapbook supplies.
The Hollemans said they are willing to work with anyone interested in taking over the store.
“We will work with people on the price of the building,” Lisa Holleman said. “We are even willing to lease the building if need be. I really want the store to continue. If someone were to buy it, we would still be in town to help them out or give them advice.”
The family also runs the only paintball field in town.
“We will be closing this in January,” Lisa Holleman said. “We want to either lease the property or sell it with the paintball inventory. Maybe the land can be used for events and large parties. Again, we are willing to work with people on this too.”
Lisa Holleman said some of her best memories came from helping people with events in town.
“I will miss helping with events,” she said. “I love doing events and the best memory is doing the grad nights.”
She said she will also miss being involved with so many people and their special moments.
“I will miss being able to make people happy. I will also miss the creativity of Pahrump. This was definitely a Pahrump store and we prided ourselves in catering to the needs of the town,” she said.
