Pahrump boys basketball falls to Bonanza

Trojans boys hoopsters fell to Bonanza 57-49 on Monday in a non-conference game.

The boys started off well and their persistent offense kept them within striking range. At the end of the half they were still in the game at 24-19.

Bonanza had some big guys that kept the Trojans out of the paint in the second half and in the third quarter Pahrump struggled to score. The Trojans were outscored in the third, 15-9.

Pahrump’s defense showed promise in the fourth quarter as they limited the Bengals to eight points in field goals. It was the free throws that killed the Trojans at the end of the game as Bonanza went to the line nine times, making all but three.

Trojans (3-6, Sunset League) guard Antonio Fortin came on strong in the fourth quarter, sinking three 3-point shots and one field goal.

He got his fifth foul and had to leave toward the end of the fourth quarter. Bonanza was able to pull away late in the game.
