Pahrump continues low gas price trend

The lowest gas prices found at four stations in Pahrump on Tuesday was $2.59 cash for regular gas, down nearly 20 cents from the beginning of June.

The drop in gas prices comes as oil prices remain near a 6 ½-year low, forecasting that prices could drop further after the summer driving season.

The national average price for regular unleaded is $2.67, significantly down from the $3.46 price seen a year ago, according to AAA’s fuel gauge report. Gas prices have fallen 10 cents a gallon, but the busiest driving season since 2007 is actually preventing prices from dropping more.

National gas prices could drop 10-to-15 cents in September, and to $2 a gallon by the end of the year, according to USA Today.

That national price prediction might forecast well for Pahrump prices, since the local price is more in line with the national average than other parts of Nye County and Las Vegas.

The lowest price in Amargosa Valley is $3.29, Beatty is $3.35 and Tonopah is $3.18.

The Las Vegas average is $3.25 and the state average is $3.21.
