Pahrump’s long-awaited Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic has been delayed again, according to U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford’s Rural Community Liaison Laurayne Murray.
Murray attributed the delay to a “hang-up” in the U.S. General Services Administrative office.
She made the announcement during Congressman-elect Cresent Hardy’s district tour in Pahrump on Dec. 15.
Murray said that though the project has been funded and approved, two eligible bids for contracts are pending. She anticipates the project will be “ready to go” by Dec. 31.
Nye County Manager Pam Webster said she had been advised that the federally funded projected was targeted to break ground on Oct. 31, but that did not happen.
Follow-up questions directed to Murray and the Veterans Administration were left unanswered by press time.
Hardy promised to advocate for the project noting that Nye County has one of the largest retired veteran populations in Nevada.
Nearly 8,000 veterans live in Nye County, with 6,000 in the Pahrump Valley.
Construction is expected to take 18 months from groundbreaking.
