Pahrump’s Star Nursery hosts annual Spring Garden Party

It’s an opportunity to reminisce with old friends and share old memories as Pahrump’s Star Nursery hosts its annual Garden Party on Saturday from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m.

General Manager Alec Augustine said though they were forced to skip the past two years, this year promises numerous activities for the entire family to enjoy, including free food from Grandpa’s BBQ and a raffle.

“We will provide free lunch and sodas,” he said. “We also will have a free kids’ garden club with arts and crafts for kids to have fun with while the parents shop or do whatever they’re doing.”

Several vendors are scheduled to attend the event, including Ahern Rentals and the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“We have a few more organizations coming out but we’re waiting for definite confirmation still,” Augustine said. “Representatives from the Audubon Society will also attend. They are responsible for fixing up Discovery Park here in town and turning it into a bird sanctuary, so we are working very closely with them.”

With the start of spring just days away, Augustine said he’s scheduled several classes on the proper planting and care of vegetation.

“A lot of people here in town are getting their gardens ready and we are here to help,” he said. “We are now in the middle of our busy spring season. We are having a good year and people are out because the weather is beautiful even though we had little bit of rain recently.”

Additionally, Augustine said residents can also take advantage of special springtime sales coinciding with the Garden Party.

“Business is going very well this year and we have a lot of special sale prices going on that only happen during our Garden Party,” he said. “We are going to have stepping stones for really cheap, as well as vegetables and plants for landscaping that are also very reasonably priced. We only see prices like this during our annual garden party and I would urge people get out and take advantage of those low prices.”

Star Nursery is located at 911 Buol Road, just off Highway 372.
