A rate hike increase proposal for Utilities, Inc. Pahrump customers has resulted in the scheduling of a public hearing on Wednesday by the Nevada Public Utilities Commission.
Public comment before Utilities Inc. and Public Utility Commission representatives is limited to three minutes per speaker on the content of the application, which is expected to result in a monthly increase of $3.40 per residential customer.
A rate hike is needed to fund the system improvements at Utilities Inc.-owned Discovery Park, formerly known as Willow Creek Golf Course, in Pahrump. The project includes conversion of existing overflow ponds to rapid infiltration basins, acquisition of equipment for land maintenance and remediation and the installation of an enhanced filtration system, as well as other improvements on the golf course.

The hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. at the Nye County Commission Chambers located at 2100 E. Walt Williams Drive in Pahrump.
