There were another 277 voters registered in Nye County by the Tuesday registration deadline for the Nov. 4 election, from the close of registration for the June 10 primary, according to figures from the Nye County Clerk’s office.
There were another 113 Republican voters registered, increasing voter registration for the GOP to 11,667 in Nye County, 43.7 percent of the total voters. Democrats had 30 fewer voters registered than during the primary, 8,280 Democrats are registered for Nov. 4. Another 4,567 voters consider themselves non-partisan, that’s an increase of 144 from the primary. The Independent American Party counts 1,846 registered voters going into the Nov. 4 election.
Among smaller parties, there are 222 Libertarians, 34 Green Party members, 10 Natural Law party members and 69 who are listed as “other.” The numbers include the active and inactive voters.
The majority of Nye County is in Assembly District 36 represented by James Oscarson, R-Pahrump, with 24,851 county registered voters in that assembly district, another 1,856 registered votes in northwestern Nye County are in Assembly District 32, represented by Ira Hansen, R-Sparks.
Since the last mid-term election in November 2010, Republicans added 548 voters to the registration rolls in Nye County, there were 313 more members of the Independent American Party and 728 more Nye County residents considered themselves non-partisan. Meanwhile the number of registered Democrats dropped by 698 voters from four years ago.
