The 2013 fall semester open house events for Hafen, Floyd and J. G. Johnson elementary school students will be held tomorrow from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Parents and students are invited to come and meet the staff, visit classrooms and take a tour of the respective campuses.
Manse Elementary School will host an Ice Cream Social/Open House also on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to give students and their families an opportunity to find their classroom, meet their teacher and get ready for the new school year.
Parent orientation and open house at Rosemary Clarke Middle School (RCMS) is scheduled for Thursday as well.
Sixth grade will begin at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Seventh and eighth grades will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Parents and guardians will meet in the gym to visit several booths for information including student schedules, school supply lists and dress code requirements.
Officials from NyE Communities Coalition and college ambassadors will also be present for the open house.
Parents and students are encouraged to attend in order to pick up schedules and tour the campus.
District officials said that those who are unable to attend the event may pick up schedules on the first day of school.
Adult and student groups will be available to assist students with the process.
Pahrump Valley High School will provide their open house event at a later date still to be announced.
Officials at Pathways Alternative Middle and High School are reminding parents that Nevada has changed the Plan of Study forms for the alternative school.
“It is very important that we collect all parent signatures by the first day of school. If you are not able to come into the school to sign please call us and we can come to you wherever you may be. Please help us to satisfy the State Department of Education and understand that your child will not be allowed to attend school until the Plan of Study is signed by both you and your student. Thank you for your help,” a statement read.
Grade levels are six through 12 where students desiring to attend must meet certain requirements.
Attendance in the program is five hours a week, with an expected 15 hours of study time at home. Course work is online using the Odyssey Ware Program.
Teachers are assigned to each student and are tasked with providing support and instruction.
Students who want to be successful in the school must be independently motivated, goal oriented and organized.
