Threats involving clown activity concerning the Pahrump Valley High homecoming events have been determined to be a hoax, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s office detectives interviewed a juvenile and explained that comments that were made were allegedly made as a hoax.
The juvenile in question has not been arrested at this time.
The incident began when the sheriff’s office received information Tuesday morning that an unknown individual on Facebook made threats, specifically referencing the Pahrump Valley High homecoming. The homecoming football game takes place Friday night, while the dance occurs Saturday night.
The threat on the popular social media platform referenced “clown activity” the sheriff’s office said. It noted ithas been a hoax in other jurisdictions nationally but does have a credible following internationally, which they called a “concern”.
The sheriff’s office was in communication with the FBI while reviewing the threat for credibility.
The investigation is still ongoing.
