A Pahrump man who was on the run for allegedly ambushing a Nye County Sheriff‘s Office deputy earlier in the week has been arrested.
Jeffery Stevens, 46, was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies Thursday morning behind the Walmart shopping canter on State Route 160 after a two-day manhunt.
While sheriff’s deputies attempted to apprehend Stevens he attempted to elude them on foot but was caught, where he put up a fight with the arresting officers.
After a scuffle, deputies were able to get Stevens into custody and had to place a mesh net over his head due to him spitting on the officers.
Upon apprehension, Stevens was transported to Desert View Hospital for evaluation, before being taken to the Nye County Detention Center for booking.
The original incident that initiated the police search occurred on Tuesday night near Simkins Road and State Route 160, when Stevens allegedly ambushed a sheriff’s deputy and attempted to take the officer’s gun. After the altercation, Stevens fled the scene.
The sheriff’s deputy was treated at Desert View Hospital for minor injuries sustained during the attack and is said to be doing fine.
