The Grove dispensary holding hiring event Saturday

As Nye County’s only medical marijuana dispensary inches closer to opening its doors, the company is looking to fill its staff.

The Grove dispensary is holding a hiring event Saturday at the future retail site for the dispensary, located at 1541 E. Basin Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The owners of the 2,500-square-foot store are looking to fill various positions including manager, budtender and intake personnel, among others. Interested applicants are urged to bring resumes and fill out an application on-site.

“We are pleased to invite job seekers interested in the exciting, new industry of medical marijuana and joining our professional team,” said Demetri Kouretas, owner and CEO of The Grove. “We provide high-quality and organically grown medical marijuana products to qualified patients in a compassionate and ethical manner – meet us at The Grove.”

There are a few guidelines that applicants must meet as they must be 21 years or older, have no felony convictions, be computer literate and possess excellent customer service skills. Notary publics and having cannabis knowledge make applicants more favorable for hiring.

Pre-interviews for the available positions will be available as time allows.

“The Grove is a full-service medical marijuana dispensary offering medical marijuana cardholders the highest quality product, patient support and education,” a statement from The Grove read.

The Grove is the only dispensary licensed to operate in Nye County and is set to open its doors in early 2016.

The Grove first applied for their license in November 2013 and their dispensary license was approved in November 2014.

In May, The Grove held an educational event that connected potential cardholders with the right organizations to obtain one ahead of the dispensary’s opening. The event also served as an introduction to the residents and the owners of the business.

The process to obtain a card usually takes about 60 days and costs around $400, which is an annual fee.
