After a week that saw record-breaking temperatures, the area will cool off just in time for the weekend.
The National Weather Service said high temperatures will drop to the 90s, much cooler than last weekend where Pahrump saw a record high of 107 degrees on Sunday, with this Sunday being 19 degrees cooler, as the forecast high is 88 degrees.
“We’re on a little bit of a weather roller coaster there,” said John Salmen, National Weather Service meteorologist.
Besides the significant decrease in temperatures, the area should be fairly quiet weather-wise, with a very slight chance of a shower on Saturday or Sunday.
“There is a little system that is going to move across us here Saturday and Sunday which could possibly produce a shower, mainly over the mountains,” Salmen said.
There will be gusty conditions tonight through Saturday night, with sustained winds between 8 mph and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph Saturday night.
High temperatures over the next week will vary slightly, but will remain under the century mark, as they will go from as high as 97 degrees today to as low as 88 degrees on Sunday.
Lows will range from as high as 73 degrees tonight and dip as low as 62 degrees Sunday night.
