Grab your umbrellas, as a wet weekend in the Pahrump Valley is expected.
The National Weather Service is forecasting precipitation chances in the valley from today through Monday, with significantly lower temperatures accompanying the storms.
”We’re looking at rain through the day Friday, with a good shot at showers through the day,” Dan Berc, National Weather Service meteorologist said. “It’s going to be sharply cooler, with temperatures closer to 70 than what we’ve been experiencing, so it will be slightly below normal.”
The chance of rain continues into the weekend with the storm system coming from the Pacific fairly active. “For Saturday we’ve got another shot of rain, particularly in the afternoon and evening,” Berc said. “We’re getting into a period where we’ve got quite an active weather system. Then we have a little break into Sunday, then we have another round of showers coming in Monday afternoon.”
Berc said the rain totals should be around a quarter-to-a-half-an-inch over the weekend, but the precipitation totals could be higher if thunderstorms develop with any of the storms that pass through the valley.
“If we have a little bit of thunderstorm activity we could see more rain than we’re anticipating,” Berc said.
Once Tuesday and Wednesday roll around, the chance of rain will pass and temperatures will rise slightly from the upper 60s Saturday through Monday, to the mid-70s Tuesday and Wednesday.
Overnight low temperatures will range from the upper 40s to the lower 50s through the next several days.
