Another possible VEA policy: Domestic terrorism
I noted the headline on the September 4 edition of Pahrump Valley Times, “Possible new VEA policy: Censorship” with some dismay. From my personal experience a better label would be “Possible new VEA policy: Domestic Terrorism”!
Let me explain; I have been a VEA customer since 1993 having moved to Pahrump from Henderson, Nevada. In the last 20 years I have never had a late payment and I have been on “The Budget program” since its inception. I also have paperless billing, sounds simple doesn’t it? Well in July, my reconciliation month, the harassment began. Out of the clear blue I received an email announcing I was in arrears over $500 and would be subject to disconnect on the 16th of August! Of course I immediately contacted the VEA billing department and was offered a billing arrangement, which I accepted. A few days later a 24-hour disconnect was found hanging on my gate. Another trip was made to VEA and again I was assured that all was in order. This was not to be! Again in early September another email was received threatening disconnect. This monopoly is out of control and in my opinion they are Domestic Terrorists!
I believe VEA needs to soften their blind adherence to “The Computer” and start using a little common sense in their handling of members’ accounts!
