A heartfelt thank you
Words can never express the gratitude that our family feels toward the sheriff’s department and to the search and rescue unit for all the help and effort that they have done regarding the search for my son, Ross Artese, and are still searching for his personal effects and his dog Lulu.
I also want to express my heartfelt thank you to the gentleman that unfortunately was the one that found my son’s body.
The sheriff’s deputy, Kevin McBrayer, who took the initial missing person report on my son and from that first day, Kevin went above and beyond to keep my family aware of any updates involving the search. To Deputy McBrayer, we are so grateful for your concern and thoughtfulness.
Detective Joe McGill had the unfortunate task of informing us that a body was found and then again had to be the one to inform us that it indeed was our son. To Detective McGill, I want to thank you so very, very much for showing caring and compassion to our family at this difficult time.
To Detective John Bergstrom, the coordinator for the search and rescue unit, and all the people who were and are still involved in the search effort for my son, my deepest heartfelt gratitude.
The town of Pahrump is extremely fortunate to have such amazing deputies and detectives such as Deputy Kevin McBrayer, Detective Joe McGill and Detective John Bergstrom.
To anyone who has negative thoughts or comments regarding our sheriff’s department or search and rescue, think again because you may one day have to call upon them for assistance.

Signed petitions did not influence zoning change
I am saddened by a decision made by the commissioners (to approve licensing of medical pot cultivation facility on Hafen Road0.
I cannot understand why the commissioners couldn’t hear “the will of the people” when 500-plus residents oppose the rezoning for a business of commercial manufacturing in a residential zone.
How many employees from Pahrump will receive jobs? As well, where is all this product going to be used?
I hope they all understand that the residents all pay taxes also.
How thrilling!!! We can be called the “Pot Capital of Nevada.”

Only animal owners should pay for shelter
Shame, shame on the town of Pahrump for trying to pass off the animal shelter to people who don’t know how to take care of pets, or know anything about finances.
I have been up here 23 years and I guess this has been happening for years.
Again I say, shame, shame on the town of Pahrump.
